Team Selections Preliminary Final -v- Adelaide Buffalos

The Peckers are understandably disappointed after failing to get the 223 set by the Eagles last weekend.  Thankfully, the minor premiership has ensured that the players are able to fight for a Grand Final spot this week in their Preliminary Final against Adelaide at Woodville Oval this weekend.

And it will be a scorcher, metaphorically and physically.  Adelaide’s hot spell is set to continue with both days tipped to exceed 38 on both days, the 13th and 14th consecutive days over 35 degrees.  The conditions will merely add spice to what is expected to be a hard fought encounter between seasoned campaigners Adelaide and finals rookies Woodville who, if we were to be completely honest, would prevail comfortably if the battle were to take place in nature, the timber ship ‘Buffalo’ clearly no match for the Golden-Green Woodpecker (Piculus chrysochloros).

Redback star Daniel Harris returns to the side as captain and will add to the already impressive batting and bowling rosters.  Stuart Coles comes into the side to make his A-grade debut in the cauldron of finals action.  Coles has made 345 runs in the B grade at an average of 23, who at 16 years of age and as a card-carrying member of Generation Y, will be keen to impress.

Once again, extra shade will be provided for spectators.  See you there.
